CHALLENGE

What if your company and industry was about to face significant market challenges that could forever change how you do business…or lose significant market share and revenue….what would you do?

Approach

This leading footwear brand gathered it’s top 20 customers to ask them one question, “How can we as a manufacturer make you thrive in the future, knowing the consumer and economics headwinds coming”. On a custom bulit wood pad with no walls in nature, 3 hours from civilization, and the San Juan Moutains surrounding the group - they talked for 3 hours about that 1 question. And then they spent the next 2 days without cell phones, absent of “sizzle” videos, running in the product coming out 1 year in the future, and building deeper relationships, connections and solutions. Those discussions were at 8,000 ft on a mountain top, in a helicopter that transferred them from the airport, 3 feet submerged in a hot spring, and around a fire with a Grammy Award winning singer playing.

Outcome

Attendees departed this gathering with commitments and solutions that would gain marketshare and short-term orders increasing revenue by 10%. One retailer noted: “Listen, we get entertained at the Olympics and the Super Bowl by the big brands—this was the BEST event I’ve ever been to.”
